Store Brand Formula – Nutritional and Economical

Pediatricians and nutrition specialists inform new parents that breast milk is the optimum choice for infant feeding. A combination of breast milk and formula is another favorable option. The hospital on the other hand, recommended Enfamil to me and I stuck with it, well at least for a while. The Infant Formula Act was not openly disclosed by the hospital staff during those first days of motherhood. In my opinion, this was an enormous disservice to parents like me. In fact, this point showed up in an article on Moneywatch.com,  which was prompted by the last Similac recall. The author, Stacey Bradford wrote, “New parents are introduced to branded milk substitutes like Similac and Enfamil in the hospital. They are then often reluctant to switch to a cheaper alternative since it can take up to a week for a child to adjust to a different formulation…”

Purchasing store brand formula could produce a savings of about $600 a year per baby. Consider trying a store brand infant formula alternative, I did when my boys were infants. Today they are healthy men who obviously suffered no adverse effects from being fed store brand formula.
