TracFone – Affordable Summer Communication for Parents

This post brought to you by TracFone. All opinions are 100% mine.

Summer vacation oftentimes leaves parents looking for an inexpensive alternative to keep in communication with the children. An expensive monthly cell phone bill is not a likely solution. TracFone is one of the least expensive cell phones in America, requiring no contracts, credit checks, activation, and/or cancelation fees. The TracFone is ideal for keeping in touch with kids during the summer months. Why? The pay as you go feature makes it economical while no contract keeps it temporary.

Minutes can be purchased online or via calling cards through numerous retailers across the country. Customers expressed much displeasure concerning added fees associated with competitor’s monthly cell phone plans. This is just not so with the TracFone and customer testimony verifies as such.

Available Plans

TracFone offers several money saving alternatives. To keep service active, add either an airtime card or a no contract monthly plan. A 1-year service card with double minutes for the life of the TracFone, and 800 minutes, costs only $119.00. “Double minutes for the life of your phone” is a feature that can be purchased separately for just $19.99; however, certain phones do include this bonus! Monthly plans are also available with 200 minutes for under $30.00, and as low as $9.99 for 50 minutes.

International calling is no problem with TracFone.  Making calls to over 60 international destinations cost the same as local calls. In addition, the International Neighbors program provides family and friends in Mexico or Canada a local phone number in those countries to reach your TracFone in the United States.

Phone Selection

While blackberry phones are not available, TracFone offers cell phones from top manufacturers like Motorola, Kyocera, LG, Nokia, and Samsung. Phone styles vary from simple text and call phones for about 10.00 to blue tooth enabled smart phones. As with other cell phones, features such as cameras, video recorders, mp3 players, and full QWERTY keyboards are readily available.

Flexibility, style, and most importantly affordability, the TracFone is a fine solution for parents who need temporary communications and those on a tight, unstable budget.

  1. This seems like a really great idea – particularly if (like me!) you’re got three children to keep in touch with. My youngest is far too young for a phone really, but a temporary measure like this to help alleviate homesickness while we’re away would be just the ticket.

    Thanks for the great article!

  2. Here’s another testimonial: I’ve been a happy TracFone customer for years. The contract services like Verizon or AT&T lowest minute packages are always way too high for me to use up. My husband and I both work from home so we don’t really need it to communicate. My child is still too young for a mobile.

So for now it is completely ideal and with the reputation smart phones are getting for being so addictive, I’m rather glad I have an extremely simple phone that makes calls and I can still text.
